Tickled

Was tickled when I received this via email, and laughed a bit. Nowadays, very seldom do I see a picture and then will laugh outright.

March is almost over, that is, one quarter of the year is almost over. My, my, how time flies. Some events this week have been somehow memorable:

The first being asked what is the equivalent word of counterparty in Malay? Scratch head… uh.. don’t know! Asked a few Malay colleagues also they don’t know. Reckon it is kaunterparti, but don’t know’leh!

The second being having a tune stuck in my head … been humming it for the past few days already (after having to sight sing and transpose the song to suit a better register), especially the first few phrases….. it’s called “The Rose”… and it goes:

“Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower, and you it's only seed.”

Yaada, yaada, yaada, yaada, yaada……

I first heard Leanne Rimes singing it in one of her CDs a while back and was captivated, but understand that it’s originally a Bette Midler song. Very nice words and tune. Leanne Rimes’ powerful country style suited this song to a T!

Bubble Thingy?

Don’t know what this is called, but had it for a quite a while already. Got it in green, red and yellow too! I think I got it when I signed up for something, and if you look closer, you will note that the left “hand” is missing. I sort of recall “chopping” it off! And before cries of “horrid” resound, there wasn’t actually any left hand so to say, but a tag/flag promoting some thing or rather. I kept this “bubble” thingy in the office to brighten up the area and to add some cheerfulness around as a form of de-stressing. Actually, I also have two de-stress balls for me to squeeze when I am tensed!

Have you lately:
a. taken a moment for yourself?
b. taken a moment to savour the beautiful things in life?
c. taken a moment to sit still and just listen - to the peace and quiet?
d. taken a moment to tell someone you love him/her?
e. taken a moment to say thank you?
f. taken a moment to be hear angels sing through beautiful music?
g. taken a moment to give God praise?
h. taken a moment to do a good deed?
i. taken a moment to smile to yourself?
j. taken a moment to spend time with your family?

Have you lately………

Bday Bash

Well, to be precise, more like a lunch session. Our team celebrated three colleagues’ bdays together (2 from last month and 1 this month) at Modesto's in KL. The ambiance was very nice, I particularly liked the colour red used as the basic shade of the table settings. The subtle lighting added some taste to the décor.
There were fish tanks used as wall decoration (with some fishes in them). Very nice, but I would guess hard to maintain.

As for the food, presentation of the dishes looked good, but quality was not up to scratch. Had better tasting food elsewhere.
Even for the pizza, there were some traditional shaped ones, and some uniquely shaped pizzas.

The desert seemed more interesting. Tiramisu - ok ok, Brownie with IceCream - hmmm, so so.
But their homemade IceCream with nuts is a must! One of the better ones I must admit.
Some interesting names from the drinks menu, which I am sure, some will get a total kick from reading and letting their imagination go wild! Overall, it was a good lunch, and the cost did not set us back that much, given that Citibank had a promotion going with Modesto’s, by providing a 50% discount on the Pizzas and Pastas!

Petrol Costs

Petrol hike since 1990

Bef 1990 - RM 0.89
Year 1990 - RM 1.10 (up RM 0.21)
01/10/2000 - RM 1.20 (up RM 0.10)
20/10/2001 - RM 1.30 (up RM 0.10)
01/05/2002 - RM 1.32 (up RM 0.02)
31/10/2002 - RM 1.33 (up RM 0.01)
01/03/2003 - RM 1.35 (up RM 0.02)
01/05/2004 - RM 1.37 (up RM 0.02)
01/10/2004 - RM 1.42 (up RM 0.05)
05/05/2005 - RM 1.52 (up RM 0.10)
31/07/2005 - RM 1.62 (up RM 0.10)
28/02/2006 - RM 1.92 (up RM 0.30)

Therefore on average, annual increase between 2000 and now:
= [(1.92/1.20-1)] x [365/(28Feb06-1Oct00)]
= 60.00% x 365/1976
= 11.08%!!!
